PALM BEACH — Despite being formally charged with assaulting a Florida police officer in December during a drunken rage, Real Housewife Of New York Luann de Lesseps, 52, has wasted no time getting back out onto the social scene.
After supposedly completing a 21-day stint in rehab, the former countess was spotted last night with co-star Sonja Morgan. The pair posted a selfie on Instagram from Broadway cabaret club Green Room 42 with pianist Billy Stritch. In another post, de Lesseps photographed a vase of flowers with the caption, “taking time to smell the roses.”
It’s been a busy year for the housewife, who got married, divorced and arrested in just the span of twelve months. de Lesseps had wed West Palm Beach’s Tom D’Agostino, Jr. on New Year’s Eve of 2016 in Palm Beach, but the marriage went south in the summer.
Then at Christmas, de Lesseps returned to Florida, where she was arrested after an altercation with a police officer, who had been alerted by staff at the Colony Hotel that the star was drunk and in a room not reserved by her with a male companion.
She was eventually charged with a felony count of resisting an officer with violence and two misdemeanor counts of trespassing and disorderly intoxication, which could mean jail time for the socialite.
She blamed the incident on nostalgia, stating, “This was my first time in Palm Beach since my wedding, and being here brought up long-buried emotions. I want to offer my sincere apologies to anyone I might have offended with my behavior. I am committed to a transformative and hopeful 2018.”
Her troubles haven’t dimmed her outlook though. After the incident, the Bravo star wrote on Instagram, “I intend to turn this unfortunate incident into a positive life changing event. Once again, I sincerely apologize for my actions. I have the greatest respect for police officers and the job they do. My actions alleged in the police report do not reflect my core values and my law-abiding character. I am so grateful for the love and support that I am receiving from my family, friends and loyal supporters.”
In a handwritten note shared with followers on Monday, she stated, “If “Plan A” didn’t work. The alphabet has 25 more letters! Stay cool. Try again #life #planB,” which seemed open to interpretation.
Co-star Bethenny Frankel recently told Us Weekly, “I think she’s doing really well and she’s got a wonderful attitude and nature, and she’s very positive and she seems very healthy, very humble, very grounded, and I’m very happy for her.”
Let hope this has only been a momentary lapse and de Lesseps can stay on the straight and narrow. And in the right hotel room.
