WEST PALM BEACH — For West Palm Beach’s “Cheetah Gentlemen’s Club,” the old rubric “It’s better to give than to receive” applies to more than just lap dances! The bawdy club—together with its affiliate clubs located in Hallandale Beach and Pompano Beach—is hosting a major Thanksgiving giveaway of 3,000 turkeys to needy families.
The giveaways will commence at 11:00 a.m. sharp on November 20th at three locations—one for each of the clubs involved. The West Palm Beach giveaway will take place at 3342 Shawnee Avenue. The Hallandale Beach club giveaway is being held at 100 Ansin Boulevard. The Pompano Beach event will be at 497 NW 31st Avenue. Size of turkeys will range from ten to fourteen pounds.
The turkey giveaway has become a tradition for Cheetah.
“We’ve been giving away free turkeys for years,” said Greg Jarmon, general manager of the Hallandale club. “People start lining thinking we will run out, but we don’t. It takes 3 or 4 hours to give away all these turkeys.”
Each family in attendance receives a single turkey—in order of arrival—until all of the birds are gone.
“We like to let people know we’re human, because we are a strip club, and we’re often stereotyped,” Jarmon added. “We’re the same people that live next door to you. We have compassion.”
The turkeys are distributed by nonprofit group “Rodriguez Charities,” which was established by former U.S. Marine and Cheetah owner Joe Rodriguez.
Adding to the festive atmosphere of the event are local celebrity guests. Actor Angel Salazar (of “Scarface” and “Carlito’s Way”) will appear at 2017’s event, together with former NFL players not yet announced. The giveaway for 2016 boasted James Pruitt and Larry Ball of the Miami Dolphins and Errict Rhett of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers handing out birds.
After all: Why should churches get to have all the fun?
