MIAMI BEACH — Hunky movie star Matthew McConaughey is currently in Florida, and Miami Beach has been the recent beneficiary of the attention of the actor and his gorgeous wife.
McConaughey, 47, came down south to film the comedy The Beach Bum from Harmony Korine (of Kids and Spring Breakers fame). With him is model wife Camila Alves and their kids, son Levy, 9, daughter Vida, 7, and son Livingston, 4.
The Texas-born McConaughey could be seen about town exercising and stepping out with the fam on Friday. They had all arrived just one day before, and wasted no time settling in.
In the new film, McConaughey will play a stoner rebel named “Moondog.” It sounds admittedly silly, but the actor has shown in recent years that his judgment in roles is undeniably sound. He has rehabilitated a career once mired in disposable romantic comedies and won over audiences and critics alike with his performances in such powerhouse endeavors as Interstellar and HBO’s True Detective.
McConaughey will be filming in Miami initially, after which point he leaves for Key West to film there for an additional two weeks.
While there was a little relaxation to be had upon arrival, Matthew—understanding that fitness and good looks are a big part of his brand—got right to business working out and could be seen jogging. For her part, Camila—a model and television personality by trade—has already started hitting the gym.
Family life seems to agree with the chill and happy McConaughey who dated A-list actresses such as Sandra Bullock and Penelope Cruz (among others) while still sowing his oats.
Also upcoming from McConaughey is the thriller Serenity in which he plays a fishing captain whose past comes back to haunt him.
Going by title alone, it seems that for the laid-back actor starring in Serenity and The Beach Bum, art is imitating life.
