LAS VEGAS — The Juice could be loose as early as Monday and coming to a Florida location near you.
O.J. Simpson, 70, is expected to be transferred to High Desert State Prison for release on Monday.
The former football star, who is serving time for armed robbery and kidnapping not double murder, was granted an October 1 parole date. He has spent nine years in jail for allegedly trying to reclaim memorabilia that he says was stolen from him.
Simpson is expected back in the Sunshine State, where he’s rumored to be anxious to get back to the golf course.
“We’ve been trying to keep things as normal as possible,” said Brooke Keast, a Nevada State Department of Corrections spokeswoman.
It’s unclear whether Simpson will be transported back to Florida in a white Bronco.
Simpson has been paroled after he spent nine years behind bars for a 2008 armed confrontation with two sports memorabilia traders in a Las Vegas hotel room. He was sentenced to 33 years. But as luck would have it, he’s been given clemency by the State of Nevada.
A Simpson friend, Tom Scotto, said the non-murderer may live with him in Naples. So Naples residents, you may want to keep your cutlery under lock and key.
Simpson was famously acquitted in 1995 of the 1994 brutal murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. Though he was found liable for the slayings in civil court in 1996 and ordered to pay the victims’ families $33.5 million.
He’s not off the hook yet though.
David Cook, an attorney for the Goldman family, said the judgment amount has increased with interest since then to more than $65 million. The family will continue to seek payment of the damages.
Here’s an idea: Simpson golf gloves – They always fit!
It remains to be seen if the Juice will even bother to forego his golf club fees to pay the families. Stay tuned Naples!
