LOS ANGELES — Last year, the stars came out and really shined at the Emmys. Old Hollywood glamour reigned supreme, class was back and life was good.
That was 2016. This is 2017, Donald Trump is president. We’ve had two major hurricanes this year. And the fashion at the Emmys sucked.
From Angela Sarafyan’s yellow floor-length Chiquita banana dress to Padma Lakshmi‘s hot pink pageant gown, this year was fashion don’t after don’t after don’t.
For example, the stunning Amanda Crew from HBO’s Silicon Valley wore a semi-see-through sequin gown that was so sheer you could see her belly button.
How many more sheer dresses, or dresses with sheer cutouts like Erin Lim‘s dress can we see?
And the ladies of a certain age, like Edie Falco and Samantha Bee didn’t set any better of an example. Both wore overly structured outfits that made them look boxy, unfashionable and old.
So much talent, but not much fashion sense.
This year, we’re just running a worst dressed list with our fingers crossed that 2018 will be a much better year, on every front.
