BOCA RATON — Aaron Rajman, an MMA star and member of American Top Team, was shot and killed during a home invasion on Monday night in the 22700 block of 65th Terrace in Boca Raton, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Rajman, 25, died from injuries sustained after a group of men entered the private home at approximately 10:25 p.m. In time, a fight broke out between the fighter and the intruders. After the shooting, the men fled and their whereabouts are unknown. The sheriff’s office said they found no motive for the shooting and are treating it as a homicide.
Dave Zalewski, a friend and Miami fight promoter wrote on Instagram, “I’m just literally at a loss for words. Everyone I talked to is sickened. He was the most humble guy around, he never talked bad about people.” Zalewski had expected to see Rajman at a 4th of July barbecue.
Rajman, who had a 2-2 professional record, was widely admired as a man as much as a fighter. He had been training with American Top Team since he was 16. UFC star Tecia Torres, who had known Rajman since early in her career, wrote on Instagram,“RIP. A beautiful soul was taken too soon.
“Today I have a heavy heart with the passing of my friend. I remember when Aaron went out to [North Carolina] with me and was my only corner at the end of my amateur career.
“Shortly after I fought on one of his own MMA shows and become the No 1 amateur fighter at 115lbs. Thank you Aaron for sharing those special moments.”
One of his teammates, Steve Montgomery, known as The Creepy Weasel, tweeted, “A good person and friend has passed. Aaron Rajman is no longer with us. Rest in peace and power Aaron, you will be missed and thought of often.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help his mother Lauren with funeral expenses – gofundme.com/funeral-for-aaron-rajman.
