MIAMI BEACH — Lloyd Klein certainly knows how to pick ‘em.
The 49-year-old fashion designer was the love interest of notorious “Catwoman” Jocelyn Wildenstein, a 71-year-old socialite whose many facial surgeries have left her looking more feline than human.
Clearly bored by the ordinary, Klein spent the weekend cavorting in Miami Beach with his new girlfriend, 59-year-old Lauren Foster, a transgender model from South Africa.
Foster wore a blue one-piece and Klein a skimpy black Speedo as they strolled the beach hand-in-hand, played in the water and kissed while stretched out on beach chairs.
Klein was with Wildenstein (on and off) for some 14 years. Their relationship finally broke down for good in December of last year when the “Catwoman” scratched up Klein’s face (with claws AND scissors) and was arrested only after Klein trapped her in a walk-in closet. After being seen together in an apparent reconciliation in New York in February and March, the pair seem now to have split once and for all.
“My break up with Jocelyn has devastated me,” said Klein, “but I’ve known Lauren for a long time and she’s been there for me when I’ve needed her.”
The newly-minted couple were enjoying their second visit to Miami; they were in town for Christmas and New Year’s at the end of last year as well.
For all the time Klein was with Wildenstein, he knew Foster, but according to friends their relationship was purely platonic until recently.
Foster hails from Durban, South Africa. She became aware of her sexual identity at age 9 and underwent gender reassignment surgery at age 18. She found success as a model without anyone knowing of her prior gender, though she was eventually outed by another model. She has since been a leading activist for LGBT rights.
Klein’s background is perhaps less inspiring. While it’s true that he’s a cancer survivor and has designed clothes for major celebrities ranging from Nicki Minaj to Joan Collins, he has also been dogged with accusations of the petty theft of an iPhone, a cell phone case, a credit card and a Swiss ID.
This, however, is perhaps simple fallout from his ending up on “Catwoman” Wildenstein’s bad side, who friends say has a temper and would not be above circulating such stories.
Klein told us he categorically denies the allegations.
Where’s Batman when you need him?
