MIAMI — Elle Macpherson‘s called “The Body,” but she’s really struggled to find somebody to love. And now, unfortunately, her marriage to her billionaire Fontainebleau-owner huband Jeff Soffer appears to be over.
The perpetually good-looking, and unlucky in love 53-year-old supermodel had just moved from London to live in Miami with Miami-Dade real estate developer Soffer, but even the transatlantic relocation couldn’t bring the couple closer together.
“Elle and Jeff are definitely over,” a source close to the couple told the New York Post.
“She has left their house at Indian Creek in Miami with her kids, and is looking for her own house in Miami. He has been linked to some other women, but insists they are just friends.”
This could be the latest blip in Macpherson and Soffer’s on-again, off-again bumpy romance that began in 2009 and culminated in marriage in 2012.
But, with Aussie Macpherson’s track record, and rumored high-maintenance personality, it wouldn’t be surprising if yet another relationship bit the dust.
This was her second marriage. The first was to photographer Gilles Bensimon (Kelly Bensimon‘s ex-husband) in the 1980s.
She’s also got two children with Uma Thurman‘s current husband, businessman Arpad “Arki” Busson, with whom she spent ten years.
She’s also loved and lost Tim Jeffries, a handsome and wealthy heir, and songster Billy Joel.
Joel’s songs This Night and And So It Goes are said to be about the model.
The latter starts off like this: “In every heart there is a room/ A sanctuary safe and strong/ To heal the wounds from lovers past/ Until a new one comes along.”
And it, heartbreakingly, ends like this: “So I would choose to be with you/ That’s if the choice were mine to make/ But you can make decisions too/ And you can have this heart to break/ And so it goes, and so it goes/ And you’re the only one who knows.”
