MIAMI BEACH — The creator of the South Beach diet, Dr. Arthur Agatston, is selling his Miami Beach mansion for a staggering $23 million.
That’s right, there was lots of dough in the doc’s low-carb diet books!
In case you’re not a fad dieter, the South Beach Diet hit the market in 2003 and within the first year there were 10 million South Beach Diet books in print.
With some of that crazy diet book money, Agatston and his wife Sari purchased the lot at 1633 N. View Drive for $4.2 million in 2005.
In 2009, construction was completed on the six-bedroom, 10,300-square-foot mansion that has coffered plaster ceilings, a gym and a state-of-the-art chef’s kitchen for all those low-glycemic index meals on the SBD!
And just in case you thought you’d heard the last of the South Beach Diet, Nutrisystem acquired the “South Beach Diet” trademark in 2015 and plans to launch more South Beach Diet products in 2017.
