NEW YORK — It’s the first Monday in May and that means two things: most of the snowbirds have fled Florida and the creams of the celebrity crop have put on their most artistic gown to ascend the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour’s carefully curated party that’s called the “Oscars of New York.”
That’s right, we’re talking Jennifer Lopez in Valentino, Kim Kardashian all in white, Madonna in camouflage and Kendall Jenner wearing very little of anything.
Miami’s Adriana Lima was smoking hot in all black and at least she didn’t have tan lines like the usually-perfect Gwyneth Paltrow! And then Palm Beach Gardens‘ pregnant Venus Williams was caught out wearing what looked like a fantasy prom dress!
It was quite a night!
The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit raises money for the museum’s fashion department and Wintour has turned it into the biggest of all the big parties.
Joining Wintour as this year’s hosts are Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams — you’ve probably heard of them!
Tickets start at $30,000, but not just anyone can buy a ticket, dahling, Wintour goes over the guest list herself.
This year’s exhibition is “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between” which honors the avant-garde Japanese designer.
And the evening’s gowns reflect the avant-garde vibe.
You’ve got to see who wore what!
