The Friday night soiree featured dinner, an outdoor cocktail reception and an award for a remarkable 12-year-old boy who has been raising money for the organization since he was nine.
Rafe Cochran, a sixth-grader at Palm Beach Day Academy was honored with the One For Change Award for the way he’s turned his love of golf into a charity fundraising machine.
Three years ago, he started off by asking sponsors to pledge money for shots he made at a golf tournament, last year he started his own golf tournament.
More than 80 golfers played in that event and enough money was raised to build six duplexes in Haiti.
And he’s going to do it again this year.
His second annual Rafe Cochran Golf Classic is set for Saturday April 22.
“I’m trying to make it bigger and better, taking one step at a time, to help more families,” Cochran said. “Every dollar counts. Whatever you can give back, give back. A dollar goes a long way.”
That’s the spirit!
