PALM BEACH — With more than 3,000 protesters marching on Mar-a-Lago last night, a tuxedo-wearing Donald Trump materialized at the yearly Red Cross Ball, the traditional highlight of the Palm Beach social season.
The prez got on stage for a brief speech in which he declared himself “grateful” to be back to Palm Beach and reminisced about watching the elections returns from Florida, a win that got him close to winning.
But Trump also brought up wife Melania, the 46-year-old Eastern European model whose silent presence by Trump’s side occasionally and total absence from the White House have become another lightning rod.
“Melania, thank you very much,” Trump told the 600-plus in attendance who had paid $1,000-a-head for the five-course dinner. “She has withstood the bows and the arrows. She really has been something really special.”
Bows AND arrows?
Well, there’s something new and different.
