FORT PIERCE — Is it possible that Fort Pierce’s Omar Mateen became a mass murderer because of his own closeted and frustrated homosexual tendencies?
Mateen’s ex-wife Sitora Yusufiy, and a number of others including classmates, friends and former co-workers have come out in the last 24 hours saying that they had many reasons to believe Mateen was gay, but in the closet.
Reports have also surfaced saying the Mateen was a frequent patron of Orlando’s gay nightclub Pulse, the site of Mateen’s bloody rampage that killed 49 and injured 53.
Yusufiy, who was married to Mateen for only three months in 2009, told a Brazillian television station — through her fiancé Marco Dias — she thought Mateen had “gay tendencies.”
Through Dias, she also claimed that Mateen’s father, Port St. Lucie resident Seddique Mateen, and had called his son gay in front of her.
And Dias said “the FBI asked her not to tell this to the American media.”
A former police academy classmate of Mateen’s has also said he was asked out by the shooter “romantically” and that they went to a few gay bars together.
And one co-worker, Daniel Gilroy, said that when Mateen didn’t want to be friends, Mateen went “boiled-rabbit crazy.”
Four customers of Pulse have also claimed to have seen Mateen at the bar before.
