WEST PALM BEACH — The meetings of the West Palm Beach City Commission produce more buffoonery than Saturday Night Live these days.
Local gadfly Sandy Matkivich outdid herself at last night’s boring meeting when she appeared to be advocating re-segregation (above) during the time set aside for citizens’ comment.
Well we are, after all, in the south!
Matkivich advised another frequent city commission commentator, ex-West Palm Beach Police Officer Willie McCray, who’s black, to go live in Riviera Beach because most of that city’s public officials are black.
McCray is perennially unhappy with the city’s administration, but Matkivich seemed to indicate she believes McCray has no business criticizing city leaders because he is black and most commissioners are white.
Mayor Jeri Muoio must’ve condoned Matkivich’s address. Muoio allowed the elderly woman, one of her allies, to finish her 3-minute speech instead of cutting it short.
Then, Herhoner shifted her attention to Gossip Extra.
Seething as, during his turn at citizens comment, McCray criticized The Palm Beach Post for its pro-Muoio stance (below), Muoio decided to bring up Gossip Extra founder Jose Lambiet in a not so positive way.
We’re getting used to it: She blasted us in September for bringing to light another giant screwup by her spokesman and confidante Elliot Cohen.
But we do appreciate the exposure and consider any criticism from the city’s half-ass administration a badge of honor!
