PALM BEACH — A Central Florida expert thinks he knows why Palm Beach Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has captured the heart and soul of so many American primary goers: He’s got them in a trance.
A hypnotic trance!
Richard Barker, the Orlando-based, world-renowned hypnotist, says Trump is practicing mass hypnosis, “Trumpnosis” if you will.
Says Barker: “Through the words he has used, both now and in the past, he has placed others into a hypnotic state without them knowing.”
Well, that’s one way of describing the increasingly violent Trumpmania.
Barker says Trump’s a master in hypnotic techniques like pacing and leading, anchoring, verbal confusion and repetition, Trump is able to bypass the critical function in some minds and turn off rational thinking.
It’s no joke: For some people, Barker says, Trump is able to bore directly into their brains, establish a rapport and get them to view him with admiration bordering on worship.
That sounds like Trump voters alright.
Mass hypnotism can happen just about anywhere when a skilled orator — hypnotist or not — uses certain techniques to gain influence with groups of people.
And nobody uses repetition like Trump.
“All you need to remember is that most people’s needs are based on their instincts,” Barker says. “Understanding people’s instincts, especially in a mass gathering, is one of the key goals of mass hypnosis.
“Trumpnosis is a vehicle for enabling large groups of people to have an altered belief system,” Barker said.
