DAVIE — College football hotshot Johnny Manziel went to a party in Los Angeles over the weekend – and left with one of ours!
Since then Johnny Football, who’s entering the NFL draft, and Broward kid Lauren Hanley have been seen at several LaLaLand hotspots together.
Love at first sight?
“Not that I’ve been told,” says Hanley’s mom, Fort Lauderdale corporate lawyer Deborah Hanley. “But Lauren’s saying Johnny’s a very nice guy!”
This affair started Sunday night when the Texas A&M quarterback showed up at a pre-BCS Championship party for Florida State University fans in Hollywood, Calif.
Since the 20-year Hanley left FSU in June to pursue a modeling career in Tinseltown, she was a guest at the party, too.
And the rest, as they say, could become history.
Hanley, who graduated from the University School in Davie two years ago, and Manziel, 21, connected, and says mom, they’ve been out several times since.
Of course, Hanley’s Facebook page and Twitter account have shot up in popularity, and the hoopla surrounding her daughter is freaking out her mom.
“I didn’t even know who this Manziel person was until I started getting emails about my daughter,” said Deborah Hanley, who describes her daughter as a smart and head-strong girl. “But she’s apparently having fun, so I just keep my finger’s crossed she’ll be ok.”
The Hanleys, I’m told, are Miami Dolphins fans, especially since Lauren attended pre-k to high school across the street from the Fins’ practice facility.
Would mom have Lauren talk to Manziel about reaching out to the Dolphins? (Even if Manziel is more likely to end up in Cleveland!)
“Well, Lauren does have a certain power of persuasion,” said mom.
