Elin Nordegren‘s boyfriend is richer than he was last year!
And he was already a billionaire!
North Palm Beach coal mining mogul Chris Cline, who’s been dating golfer Tiger Woods‘ ex-wife for almost a year, now has $1.4 billion, instead of $1.2 billion last year, according to Forbes.
But since the rich are getting richer, Forbes says, Cline is teetering on the edge of the Forbes 400 richest Americans at No. 371, down from last year’s No. 360.
The 55-year-old’s bottom line, according to Forbes, is benefiting greatly from his willingness to extract high-pollutant, high-sulfur coal from West Virginia’s underground, and sell it overseas.
Forbes believes that Cline will be one of the last coal mine owners standing as the industry is in a slump because of anti-pollution regulation. Cline’s companies are able to extract coal at $22 a ton, compared to $55 a ton elsewhere.
As Gossip Extra reported it exclusively, Cline also has invested heavily in real estate over the past year, and now owns five adjacent properties in the fancy Seminole Landing neighborhood of North Palm Beach. He bought them for a total $35.52 million, according to records.
The 400 list, by the way, includes 33 billionaires who claim Florida as their home. Palm Beach County has 15, making it the most popular county with the ultra-rich.
Also on the list are Palm Beach’s Netscape founder Jim Clark (tied with Cline) and Boca Raton’s John Henry (No.. 327).
