flag-breaking-newsA trial for tennis great Jennifer Capriati was set for Dec. 17 today in a West Palm Beach court during a hearing on charges filed against her after a St. Valentine’s Day altercation with a boyfriend.

She pleaded not guilty to battery and stalking in April.

Gossip Extra broke the story back in March: Capriati, 37, had a rather animated conversation with her on-again, off-again boyfriend in a gym Feb. 14 in North Palm Beach, and she ended up being charged with battery.

Jennifer Capriati: “I’ll be vindicated!”

The charge came after a half dozen complaints of stalking and harassment from ex-Florida State University golfer Ivan Brannan.

Capriati, winner of three Grand Slam titles in 2001-02, pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor.

In an exclusive interview with Gossip Extra last year, Capriati blasted Brannan, calling him “a real bad person.” (Click here for the interview)

Normally, as it is the case with most misdemeanors, Capriati wouldn’t have had to appear at today’s routine hearing alongside her attorney, Richard Lubin. But last month, an increasingly angry Judge August Bonavita ordered her to show up.

The order came after the former tennis star canned her third lawyer, Miami defense guru Michael Grieco, and re-hired Lubin, whom she fired in April to make way for Grieco.
