Several TV Land insiders tell me Rodriguez is expected to be offered lower-profile newscasts at the station.

CBS 4 spokesman Lee Zimmerman confirmed Folbaum’s arrival.

“Yes, Rick is coming to WFOR,” Zimmerman said. “He’s starting in late August.”

As for the part about 25-year South Florida veteran Rodriguez, Zimmerman said no decision has been made about Rodriguez’ all-important 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. news.

Several sources at the station who asked not to be named, however, said Rodriguez will be “demoted” to other time slots.

Folbaum, 43, has been at Rupert Murdoch‘s conservative right-leaning New York City network for the better of the past decade.

Folbaum, whose last day at FNC is August 9, mostly pitches in for absent weekday anchors, and handles the Saturday chores. He also worked as a local news anchor on NYC’s Fox 5.

Folbaum is married and has five children, and already bought a home in suburban Broward County.

Said CBS4 News Director Liz Roldan: “Rick is an incredibly seasoned journalist and network news veteran with roots in South Florida. We are delighted to have someone with his experience joining our news team.”

Property records show Folbaum plunked down $563,000 in early July for a crib in Weston.

Folbaum has managed to stay away from political controversies at Fox, but has been the target of rumors about his wearing a hair piece!

Folbaum’s ties to South Florida?

Stations honchos say Folbaum has been visiting family members here since he’s been a kid — even if Kelcey Kintner, Folbaum’s wife, recently marveled on her blog, The Mama Bird Diaries, that most Florida homes have no basements and attics.

She also reported that the family’s camera was stolen during an outing in Delray Beach!

CBS4’s main female anchor’s job, meanwhile, remains open three months after CBS got rid of long-time Shannon Hori.
