Casey Anthony in bankruptcy court

flag-breaking-newsWill we get to see Casey Anthony’s life story on the big screen?

This afternoon in Tampa, U.S. bankruptcy Judge K. Rodney May could decide if the trustees overseeing the accused child killer’s bankruptcy will be able to profit from the controversial mom’s celebrity-by-crime status.

Lawyers for those whom Anthony owes money are asking for the “exclusive  worldwide rights in perpetuity to the commercialization of Anthony’s life story.” This would include rights to the five-year-old murder of her young daughter Caylee — the heart-wrenching death that resulted in a not guilty verdict for Anthony in 2011 in Orlando.

According to papers filed by the trustees in federal court, there’s a $10,000 offer for the rights to Casey’s story — but showbiz consultants believe it should be much more, enough to cover her debts, mostly legal bills.

Anthony’s bankruptcy lawyers are expected to argue that the judge should quash attempts to profit off of her fame.

Casey declared bankruptcy in January, claiming saying she owes more than $792,000 and has about $1000 in savings.

Anthony is said to be living off the kindness of friends who welcome her to their homes for limited amounts of time. She has been spotted in Port St. Lucie and the Palm Beach area as of late.
