After ignoring Gossip Extra‘s calls for comment about a North Palm Beach Police’s request for a warrant to arrest her in connection with a domestic violence incident, former tennis champ Jennifer Capriati finally put out a statement late Friday.
In a nutshell: None of it is her fault, and her ex-boyfriend Ivan Brannan is just telling cops exaggerated stories about her!
Here is most of the 36-year-old Capriati’s statement, courtesy of Boca Raton publicist Natalie Mikolich: “The current facts being circulated by Mr. Brannan are an over-exaggeration and the police report is one-sided in Mr. Brannan’s favor since they failed to get Ms. Capriati’s side of the story.
“We will make sure that Ms. Capriati’s side of the story is fully conveyed and when the truth comes out she will be vindicated from these charges.”
Former Florida State University golfer Brannan and several witnesses told police Capriati, the winner of two Australian Open tourneys and one French Open, hit him repeatedly in the chest during a Valentine’s Day argument in a gym.
In addition to their paperwork, I’m told North Palm cops also shipped the State Attorney’s Office a file with incident reports from the Riviera Beach and Palm Beach Gardens police departments about alleged stalking incidents involving Capriati last year.
A prosecutor is reviewing the entire file and is expected to decide whether to arrest Capriati over the next few days.
According to court records, Brannan attempted to obtain a restraining order against Capriati but a judge denied the request.
