flag-OMGEven in the area that perfected over-the-top, a yet-to-be-built penthouse in Sunny Isles Beach just put on the market last week sits way, way over-the-top.

And not just because it’s be on the 47th and 48th floors of a high-rise that’ll take two years to be erected.

The pre-construction price tag of the 20,000-square-foot, two-story palace-in-the-sky is 55 million bucks!

And that makes the penthouse, aptly named Palazzo D’Oro (palace of gold), one of the most expensive condos currently for sale in the United States.

The buyer would be saddled with monthly mortgage payments of about $200,000. But, says Realtor Michael Goldstein, who has the listing, whoever will own this behemoth doesn’t need a mortgage!

“This is for the buyer who’s looking for the finer things in life, and can afford it,” Goldstein said. “It’s truly unique. The pool, for example, will be transparent. So you’ll have the impression of dangling over the beach while you take your laps.”

How about $5 million worth of furniture?

The front door will be a pivoting wall. There’ll be a reflecting pool through most of the unit and an outdoors garden with living wall.

Of course, a stadium-style movie theater is included. So is a 25-foot waterfall, leather and maple walls and a vertical, glass-encased wine cellar.

The floor plans show six bedrooms and nine bathrooms over 15,000 square feet, and 5,000 square feet of terrace.

Goldstein says he expects the crib will be sold by the time it’s ready to be occupied, in early 2015.

The foundations for the highrise, dubbed Mansions at Acqualina, are expected to be poured by the end of the month.

“This is so over the top that there’s definitely a market for it,” Goldstein added. “Especially in this area.”
