flag-breaking-newsSouth Florida’s got talent — again!

Just days after Wellington’s Cassadee Pope won NBC’s The Voice, two teenage girls from Miami could be anointed the champs of Fox’s The X Factor tonight.

The teens, Camila Cabello and Lauren Jauregui, form the backbone of X Factor judge Simon Cowell-formed Fifth Harmony — one of three acts left vying for the $5 MILLION-recording contract for the winners.

Cowell is Fifth Harmony’s mentor on the show, and goes against music producer LA ReidSky Scraper singer Demi Lovato and pop icon Britney Spears and their proteges.

If Fifth Harmony win, it would be the second winning X Factor act with South Florida ties (click here for that story!) in a row.

Camila is only 15 years old and a sophomore at Miami Palmetto High School in Pinecrest. Lauren is 16 and a junior at all-girls Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Coconut Grove.

The two auditioned as solo acts in Greensboro, N.C., and didn’t even know each other until Cowell put them along with three other  girls Allyson Hernandez, Normani Hamilton, and Dina Hansen — to form Fifth Harmony!

Watch their breakout performance, a cover of Ellie Goulding‘s Anything Could Happen:

Fifth Harmony’s name, by the way, changed a few times over the season.

They started out as LYLAS, an abbreviation for “Love Ya Like A Sister,” but it was already been taken by an R&B group composed of pop star Bruno Mars‘ four sisters!

The group then transitioned to 1432, which somehow refers to “I Love You Too.” But Cowell didn’t like that name either, so he left it up to the Twitterverse!

And thus, Fifth Harmony was born.

Tune in to WFLX Fox-29 in West Palm Beach/Treasure Coast and WSVN-Channel 7 in Miami/Fort Lauderdale at 8 pm to see if Fifth Harmony can bring it home!
