Allen West: Gossip Extra’s Full of Crap!

Official with U.S. Rep. Allen West‘s political campaign came out swinging about Gossip Extra‘s exclusive report on West’s letter to his wife in which he demanded that she be his “porn star.”

Campaign officials claim Gossip Extra is full of dog doo-doo — and that the letter is a figment of someone’s imagination.

While the campaign wouldn’t comment about the letter when Gossip Extra requested an interview last week, campaign spokeswoman Michele Hickford talked to the New York politicial website Politicker today.

Here’s an excerpt of her chat:

Politicker spoke to . . . Hickford, and she angrily declined to discuss the letter. “We’re not going to comment on this crap, it’s just a garbage story,” Ms. Hickford said. (Politicker) asked whether she debated the veracity of the letter and, though she didn’t directly deny its existence, she pointed to the fact Mr. Lambiet has not published a copy of the document.   “He hasn’t produced a letter, so, as of now, there’s no letter,” she said.

What Hickford failed to tell Politicker, however, is that Gossip Extra emailed a PDF file of the letter to Allen West For Congress campaign manager Tim Edson. I also read sex-soaked passages from it to West’s D.C. spokeswoman, former WPTV-Channel 5 reporter Angela Melvin, whose main comment was: “Where did you get this?”

Unless Edson decided not to show it to his boss or tell him about it, West is fully aware that the missive he wrote to his wife just days before a 2003 torture incident that cost his military career is in my possession.

Neither Edson no Melvin responded to more emails asking whether Hickford is consciously lying to the media, or whether she really didn’t know Edson received a copy.

What’s the big deal about the old letter?

While loving at times, the conservative Republican West’s letter to wife Angela, a highly-educated trustee of Florida Atlantic University, also includes description after description of sex acts he demanded from her.

In West’s words, once he returned stateside, some of the acts would be “non negotiable.”

Although Gossip Extra is withholding publication the handwritten letter because of the graphic nature of its content, I wrote about it because of the increasingly nasty context of the campaign for a coastal district that stretches from Palm Beach Gardens to Fort Pierce.

West’s opponent, Democrat Patrick Murphy, has hammered at what he claims is West’s sexism and an anti-woman political agenda, using TV ads that show a cartoon of West hitting women.
