Gator Boys star Paul Bedard, who wrestles alligators for his Animal Planet reality show, has been cited by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for illegal possession of gators!

But Bedard insists the violation was technical.

It happened during a December shoot  for the reality show at the Seminole Truck Stop on U.S. 27 in Southwest Ranches.

A live alligator was indeed present, he says, but his co-star, Jimmy Riffle, was the one with the required permits.

“I’m not worried about it,” Bedard, 44, of Coral Gables, told the Sun Sentinel. He’s due in court July 11. “I don’t think I would need a lawyer for that. I could just take care of it myself.”

On Gator Boys, Bedard and Riffle host extreme fighting-style bouts with stray reptiles in canals and golf-course ponds all over South Florida. They go as far diving underwater to catch the beasts and wrangle them ashore by hand.

The citation is a second-degree misdemeanor that carries up to six months in jail and a $500-fine.
