The jury deliberated for four hours Feb. 10 before determining that Napleton, 60, was drunk at the wheel of his silver Porsche in the wee hours of Jan. 23, 2011, when he was pulled over by West Palm Beach cop Robert Heisser.

Heisser testified he saw Napleton’s cars drift in and out of its lane and cut off another motorist on I-95 before pulling him over.

South Palm Beach resident Napleton, the CEO of the 17-dealership Napleton Auto Group, refused a Breathalyzer test and was arrested.

According to the police report, he pleaded with Heisser to let him go because he “employs 400 people” and “takes care of a lot of people in this county.”

Napleton allegedly admitted to having three drinks but told the officer alcohol affected him differently from other folks because he recently had lap-band surgery to limit his food intake. He’s also a diabetic.

Napleton, who was represented by Richard Lubin and Jonathan Kaplan, was sentenced to $951.80 in fines and court costs and placed on probation. The conviction also carries a mandatory 50 hours of community service and a one-year suspension of his drivers license.

After his arrest was reported in The Palm Beach Post, Napleton pulled out all of his company’s advertising. He was believed to spend about $1 million a year with the melting newspaper.
