When former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley appears on comedian Bill Maher‘s HBO show Friday, Foley fully expects Maher will compare the open marriage allegations against presidential wannabe Newt Gingrich to the scandal that forced Lake Worth Republican Foley to resign his seat in 2006.

“I’m sure that’ll come up,” Foley said about Friday’s live appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher. “Fortunately, there’ve been 15 scandals in Congress since mine. I’m not the topic du jour. I’m fine with it.”

Once a regular on Maher’s now-defunct ABC gig, Politically Incorrect, Foley’s in-studio appearance will be his first with the comic in more than 12 years — even if Maher often talks about Foley getting caught texting blue messages to young male Congressional pages. (Click on the video below)

“They want me on to discus the (Jan. 31) Republican primaries in Florida,” Foley said. “They read somewhere that I predicted a Gingrich’s win in South Carolina.”

Foley, who represented the district that now U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney‘s for 8 years, says he expect Mitt Romney to win Florida and eventually the nomination. However, Foley says, don’t count Gingrich out.

“I know all the candidates and Newt’s the sharpest one.”

Foley is set to appear on the show about 10:05 p.m. for his eight-minute one-on-one with Maher.
