Peta, the media-savvy People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is asking JP Morgan Chase Bank to donate O.J. Simpson‘s Kendall house, which the bank is trying to foreclose, so that the animal-loving group can open a “Meat is Murder” museum there.

Gossip Extra earlier this week broke the story that Simpson, who’s serving up to 33 years in a Nevada prison for robbery and kidnapping convictions, has fallen behind on his mortgage payments on the suburban Miami home. He owes upward of $720,000 and the bank filed a foreclosure action in a Miami-Dade County court.

The Los Angeles-based Peta today fired off a letter to the bank CEO Jamie Dimon asking for the house once it’s seized.

Flori-duh: Banks wants to foreclose on OJ Simpson’s house but can’t find him

“This museum would encourage visitors to choose nonviolent vegan meals over those that cost millions of cows, pigs, fish, chickens, and other animals their lives,” the animal-rights group spokeswoman said.

Peta boss Ingrid Newkirk explained in her letter that, in addition to the murders in 1994 of Simpson’s ex-wife and restaurant waiter Ron Goldman and the 2007 robbery in Las Vegas that landed him behind bars, the former Buffalo Bills owned chicken restaurants and HoneyBaked Ham stores!

More from Newkirk’s letter:

“Many wonderful flesh-and-blood individuals — who feel pain and fear as acutely as humans do and who value their lives in much the same way— are knifed to death every day for nothing more than a fleeting taste of flesh. In slaughterhouses, chickens and turkeys have their throats slit, and frightened pigs and cattle are hung up by one leg, skinned, and dismembered. Simpson himself was once a spokesperson for and a franchise owner of two chicken restaurants, and he held a 50 percent ownership in eight HoneyBaked Ham stores.

“Our museum will contain exhibits that give visitors a sense of the terror that animals used for food experience. The ‘Meat Is Murder’ Museum plan would include educational displays that highlight interesting facts about the animals who are so casually converted into sandwich fillings, including that pigs rank higher on cognition tests than 3-year-old human children, that chickens recognize one another by facial features, that fish use tools and have friendships, and that cows can solve fairly complex problems.

“We would serve visitors free samples of delicious ‘riblets’ (made from healthy plant protein), veggie burgers, and faux chicken as well as other meat-free fare, and every visitor 12 years old or younger would receive a T-shirt reading, ‘Animals Are Friends, Not Food.’

“Rather than let this house sit vacant, let’s make it a center for nonviolence. Please contact me to discuss this exciting possibility. Thank you for your consideration.”

Still no word from JP Morgan Chase’s Dimon.
