Palm Beach will look pretty in pink this weekend as the Susan G. Komen For The Cure, the breast cancer research non-profit started by Palm Beacher Nancy Brinker, turns 30!

Local residents will notice at 6:12 p.m. tonight, when the south bridge that connects The Island to West Palm Beach will be painted in Komen pink by as many as 500 lights!

I’m told it’s the first time ever that that the historic bridge at the end of Okeechobee Boulevard will be lit up in a color other than blue! Residents can watch the lighting with notables, including Brinker and Palm Beach Mayor Gail Coniglio at the Chapel-by-the-Sea, on the west side of the bridge.

Then, on Saturday night, a $1,000-a-head fundraiser is expected to bring more than 400 donors to Donald Trump‘s Mar-a-Lago, also in Palm Beach..

Y-100 radio jock and TV personality Michael Yo, an occasional Chelsea Handler sidekick on E!’s Chelsea Lately, will emcee. Governor Rick Scott and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and, of course, The Donald, are expected to partake.

Since its birth, the non-profit named after Brinker’s sister, a victim of the disease, may have raised more than $1.5 billion then re-invested most of it into finding a cure. It’s also known for having convinced Major League Baseball and National Football League players and coaches to wear pink during some games.
