Remember Vanilla Ice? His tune big tune, Ice Ice Baby, was the background music of the 1980s.

And after more than a decade under the radar, Vanilla Ice climbed his way out of oblivion with his roles in several reality shows.

One, The Vanilla Ice Project on cable’s DIY Network, even earned him quite a following of home improvement buffs.

But as show’s second season is set to premiere Jan. 21,  Ice — aka Robert Van Winkle — is named in a foreclosure action!

The homeowners’ association of his Versailles neighborhood in Wellington claims he is behind in his association fees and filed a foreclosure action yesterday, according to Palm Beach County court records.

The association claims he owed at least $2,847.20 in unpaid dues and attorneys’ fees going back to early last year, and has a lien on the property. In total, he needs to pay $4,100 for the suit to go away.

Van Winkle, 44, owned a 5,100-square-foot home on a man-made pond in the sprawling suburban community, according to county records. He quick-deeded the house, assessed at about $373,000, to a Texas company, Van Rap LTD, last year.

“Rob Van Winkle and Vanilly Ice don’t owe anything, nor do they own a house at Versailles,” Van Winkle said.

Van Winkle couldn’t be reached. But local Realtor Steve Bate, his friend and one of the stars of The Vanilla Ice Project, said the homeowners’ association is unfairly targeting Van Winkle. In last season’s The Vanilla Ice Project, the rapper and his merry band of helpers rehab a Versailles house that had been abandoned and stripped of its amenities.

“That’s unfair,” Bate said of the foreclosure action. ”Rob’s been traveling. And there are people here who owe $20,000 and $30,000.”

5 Responsesto “Foreclosure Action Filed Against Rapper Vanilla Ice!”

  1. Jigga says:

Indeed, associations tend to be very unfair, are very corrupt, and have power trips 24/7. The worst is the Quantum on the Bay association and management office, they are a real shame to the its high rise community.

  2. hh says:

He only owes a little over 2 grand?! And they’re filing foreclosure?! Are you kidding me??!!! He should sue their asses for defamation.

    • Jigga says:

You can’t due for defamation when the association isn’t defaming, they are simply their rights. Last year the state of florida enabled associations to go after tenants who are 90 days late in association fees, even allowing them to foreclose… too much power to enact on examples like vanilla ice’s, but certainly legit for others who owe $20k+.

  3. On that bull says:

why is this even news? Why is a homeowners dues being late being reported about? This is come bull crap

  4. alexastock says:
