“I played college football,” macho anchorman Rick Sanchez, 53, asserted to explain his new gig as Florida International University’s football color commentator.
Reality, however, isn’t as grand as life on Planet Rick! The former WSVN-Channel 7 star — fired from CNN for saying that Jews control the media — implies he went to Kentucky’s Morehead State.
Actually, he made the varsity roster as a wide receiver for the Division II Minnesota State Moorhead. Big difference!
Seems, though, that the water boy got just as much action that year, 1977. “Rick didn’t catch a pass,” said Larry Scott, Moorhead’s ex-sports information director. “But he had a lot of swagger for a freshman.”
Sanchez’s contention he was on scholarship? “He may have had $200 off his tuition,” Scott said.
